The WSU Statistical Consulting Center will present a day-long seminar on “Applied Statistics: An Overview” on Friday, August 9, 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m., in 202 Math & Microbiological Sciences Building on the WSU main campus. Presenters include Dr. Harry J. Khamis and Mrs. Beverly Grunden.
The science of statistics is used to design experiments and to summarize, analyze, and interpret data. This course will give you an overview of what questions must be considered when seeking to answer a research question using quantitative analysis. Everything in the course will be illustrated by examples; most of these examples will come from actual projects at the Statistical Consulting Center.
The seminar will cover: levels of measurement; variable structures; descriptive statistics; classification of statistical methods; sample size determination; p-value; t-test and ANOVA; multiple regression; logistic regression; survival analysis; experimental design.
Cost of the seminar is:
- $400 per participant ($100 with WSU fee waiver)
- $75 for WSU graduate students with fee waiver
- $200 for K-12 Educators with proof of employment
The seminar is authorized for 0.8 continuing education units (CEUs). Cost includes continental breakfast, lunch and snacks.
